Tuesday Morning Hangovers

"Can we go back to last year’s schedule? Not to be biased, but I liked the way that worked out…" #weekfive
Rave of the Week

Winning changes everything; when you're winning, all is right with the world. Two weeks ago The Bane was 0-18, heading into week six they're 2-0. Winning is like a snowball effect: once it gets going, it's hard to stop it from rolling and it doesn't just impact your team:

You feel it...
You wake up with a smile on your face, a pep in your step and the confidence you can take on anything. Suddenly the player whom you labeled "duck" looks like he belongs to a dynasty. (Heh) You'll even propose things such as, "we should get a new trophy, something bigger...better."

Your opposition feel it, too...
They wake up with a flummox feeling, a stut in the gut and the shaking confidence that maybe I should reconsider starting this other guy. Suddenly the player whom you labeled stud looks a little dudish.

Winning can also be dangerous too, but that story will be told another day...

Rant of the Week

I've come to the conclusion that I must make restitution for last year’s success; it’s the only logical explanation that helps my psyche. If you play me this year, expect to have an unanimous victory. However, I’m over it and have a better tangent this week on fantasy football information.

There is just too much of it! Seriously. It’s the thing I hate about going to the waiver pool. There are over a thousand players, information on seven hundred of them, detailed facts of “potential” in another three hundred but on Sunday only two display that production. This site says this, that link says that, and don’t forget about the other. Think about it. It’s very rare that someone picks up a player that NO ONE has heard of before…we've all heard of him, but deciphering between good and bad information is the difference. Wednesday mornings 10-12 players are typically added or dropped but only one is really the great pick up. How do you decide, "No, this is the right guy."

Part of being a great GM is the ability to look at a player on paper (because we all know we’d fall in love with them on video) and say, “this guy seems legit” or “this guy’s a buster.” Some of you have complained that the waivers help the unprepared, but I've studied are league the last few weeks and that’s not the case at all. Truthfully, I don’t think even NFL.com is equip to offer us the type of expert advice we need at an Elite level.

Expect to see this on Fantasy Live this week: “Alshon Jeffery just had a monster game and is a must start from here on out! Zac Stacy looks to be the lead guy in St. Louis and needs to be added in all leagues! Justin Blackmon is back and still available in 84% of leagues!”

Meanwhile in the Elite league: Steve started Jeffery, I added Stacy before week five’s games and Nathan drafted Blackmon…

The NFL Show only reacts to what has happened, this league anticipates what's going to happen. Read that again. The Elite GMs are picking up players based on their performance after next week's games before next week's games are played. Competitive isn't it? You’re probably not going to win this league if you’re still playing checkers because this league has switched over to chess a long time ago.

I’m out like any player Limited Edition traded/drafted this year...
